I took my son to his 4 month checkup about a month ago and the doctor prescribed him the multivitamin fluoride supplement drops since we do not already have fluoride in our city water. I have yet to give them to him because I’m not sure as with many things if I am really convinced it’s safe. I came across this article in my natural cures book and it really made me think, so I thought I’d put it out there to see what your opinions are on the safety of fluoride and if you feel it’s safe to give to your children.

Here’s what the article said in a nut shell. Fluoride is dangerous! It reduces the ability of the thyroid gland to operate properly which can lead to a hypoactive thyroid, or an under active thyroid. And as we know when your thyroid is not acting properly, your metabolism is very slow, causing you to gain weight. Fluoride in water and in toothpaste is one of the major reasons why we have such high obesity levels in America today. In communities that have the highest amount of Fluoride in their water supply, there are also the highest amounts of obesity and other diseases. It also goes on to say that the use of fluoride can suppress your immune system and make you depressed.

So I think I will be throwing out our old toothpaste, and making a trip to the health food store this morning to pick up some all natural.
