Meme Monday

I wasn’t tagged by anyone but after reading Pam’s post at RandomThoughts
I thought it would be fun to participate in the book meme. In case you haven’t heard of it before, like me, heres the rules:

Pick up the nearest book.
Turn to page 123.
Post the fifth sentence.
Tag 5 other people.

So I grabbed “The Gift Of Fear” by Gavin De Becker. Yea don’t ask. Just one of those books Oprah told me that I HAD to read, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Anyways here’s the fifth sentence on page 123.

“The threat means that at least for now(and usually forever), he favors words that alarm over actions that harm.”

Let me know if anyone has read the book, I’m curious to know if it’s worth reading.
I’m not going to tag anyone either but feel free to join in on the fun!

P.S. Make sure to stop by tomorrow because I have an awesome recipe to share!

Similarly, a print ad in a magazine can generate leads for direct marketing (again, see Chapter 13). BR/BR/Eew. Boring, That’s from “Marketing For Dummies” (The only book in my office) haha.

That book meme is fun! ;) I haven’t read the book though, so I can’t tell you if it’s worth it or not…

This book is a must read. It’s truly amazing for a non-fiction book. de Becker encourages us to listen to our bodies and to trust our gut instinct. He wrote one for parents, children and young adults called “Protecting The Gift”. The first chapter of “The Gift of Fear”, details a story about a woman who was attacked for 3 hours. She had ignored previous warning signs and predictive signals. When she finally listened to her body and respected the fear, she was able to save her life. We all have a built-in survival mechanism that is hardly ever wrong, we typically ignore it in the interest of being polite. He tells us to trust our bodies, when it tells us to fear and to be afraid. LISTEN TO IT! Get out of the situation. I am in the personal safety business and this book is like a bible when teaching people to be safe. It is 10 years old this year. Please read it.
