The Cloth Diaper Experiment

After experimenting the last few weeks I can happily say we have made the switch to cloth diapers. I have always wanted to but felt it would be too difficult. I didn’t realize the huge variety of cloth diapering systems available.

It didn’t take much research to know that the AIO (all in one) diapers would be the best option for us. They advertise as being “dad friendly” and that was very important to me because I knew if not I may be changing diapers by myself for the next 2 years. Not to mention we needed something quick and easy for our super squirmy boy.

I searched online for weeks just to see all my options. I decided to go with the Kushies Ultra Diapers, which I actually found to be cheaper at my local health foods store than online. Kushies also offers super cute diaper bags, you have to check them out!

Anyways, I was really afraid of constant leaks and messes, but have only had one incident during a long nap. I also thought they would look silly like he had a giant butt or something but you can’t even tell he’s wearing them. They have such cute designs to choose from and they are all very gender neutral so I think it would be an extra good investment for those planning to have more children.

I won’t lie, the poopy diapers are not so fun. But now that my son is 6 months and starting to eat solids he is down to pooping once a day or even every other day so it’s not so bad. Over all I am shocked at how easy they have been to use and to wash. I would really recommend AIO’s to anyone wanting to switch to cloth diapers but afraid of losing the convenience of disposable.

Here he is!

My happy little man, showing off his new cloth diapers!

Yay for the cloth diapers! We’re using the Kushies AIO’s also, they’re great! Ya, the poopy ones are kinda icky though, I agree. ( :

I really want to try but my mom watched Eliza and won’t use them. GGGRRR. I think I am going to get some and give it a try anyway. Thanks for the suggestion of Kushies.

He looks adorable! It is great to hear about someone else’s positive experience with cloth diapers before going and trying it on your own. It is definately a consideration when the new baby arrives. I’m just not sure if I am brave enough to take the plunge!
