Super Easy Apple Pie Recipe
Pie Filling:
8 medium-large size apples(I used 4 Fugi and 4 Golden Delicious)
1/2 cup of light brown sugar
1/4 cup of flour
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
Peel and slice apples. Coat evenly with the dry mixture in a large bowl and set aside.
Pie Crust: (This is for a lining and top)
4 Cups of flour
2 Cups of shortening
1/2 tsp salt
1 Cup of water (if needed)
Use a fork or pastry cutter to cut the shortening into the flour salt mixture until crumbly, then add up to a cup of water if necessary to form the dough into two equal balls.
Store in the fridge for at least 30 min. Then roll out both balls using lots of flour and line your pie pan. Add the apple mixture. Then top with the remaining dough. Brush lightly with an egg wash(1 egg and water)
Put the pie in the oven at 400 degrees for 45-60 min, you may need to cover with tinfoil for the last 20 minutes if the top browns too quickly.
